Fluoride For Strong Enamel

Your mouth is home to millions of bacteria. Some of it is harmful. When you leave leftover food or drink in your mouth, the harmful bacteria feeds on it and turns into acid. Acid that can destroy your teeth. To prevent this destructive acid from forming in your mouth, it is important to brush and floss every day. Drinking water will help to rinse away any leftovers. Basically, a good oral hygiene routine is essential to prevention of dental problems. Another way to prevent issues and

protect your teeth is to strengthen the enamel to become resistant to harmful acid, decay, and breakage.

How does fluoride help your teeth?

Our enamel is constantly losing strength from a depletion of minerals (demineralization). Fluoride strengthens enamel by helping the absorption of calcium and phosphorus (remineralization). Fluoride is a mineral found in a lot of our food and drink. When we consume it, the fluoride can strengthen the teeth from the inside. If it is applied topically to the teeth, the fluoride can penetrate the teeth to help strengthen the enamel.

Fluoride treatments for both adults and children

In the past, fluoride treatments were used only on children. In the more recent past, it has been seen that fluoride treatments can also be helpful for adults. Fluoride is present in most drinking water. It is also in most toothpaste and mouthwash. Even with these sources, it may be helpful to talk to your dentist about fluoride treating your teeth.
