It’s hard to believe that a chipped tooth can become even more damaged. Actually, unrepaired chipped teeth can lead to further permanent damage. If the chip exposes the pulp of your tooth, it can cause bacteria to infect the tooth. The pulp is also extremely sensitive to hot and cold, which can result in an unpleasant eating experience. Luckily, veneers prevent further damage to chipped teeth. Let Dr. David Foster, your Columbia dentist, give you a natural-looking smile and help you to avoid further damage.
Your Hometown Advantage
Since opening in 1985, Dr. Foster and our team have been perfecting smiles for residents of Columbia. Located less than two miles from our town square, Dr. Foster’s office is easily accessible. His gentle care and dedication to “doing what’s best for his patients” is unmatched in our area.
This patient-focused practice philosophy also influences Dr. Foster’s approach to veneers. He works closely with his patients to determine which type of veneers is right. When designing a new smile, Dr. Foster takes into account several factors, including the patient’s oral health, the condition of their teeth, the shape of their face and jaw, and their unique smile goals. Dr. Foster strives to do what’s best for his patients when determining what veneers to use. Our traditional veneers work just fine for some of our patients, but we also use the ultra-thin Lumineers, too.
How Can Veneers Improve Your Smile?
Veneers can be used to cover a variety of dental problems including stained or chipped teeth. They can also be used to lengthen short teeth and to fill gaps between teeth. First, Dr. Foster determines whether your teeth are strong enough for veneers. He then prepares your teeth for them. Then, he takes impressions which are used to create a mold of your mouth. This is sent to a dental ceramics lab where lab technicians create the veneers. Once he receives the veneers, Dr. Foster will check the fit, make any necessary adjustments, and bond them to your mouth.
Replace your chipped teeth with a beautiful smile. With veneers, worrying about visible damage is a thing of the past. In fact, you will use your veneers just as you would regular teeth. They are just as strong as your actual teeth.
