Root Canal Treatments

When you visit us for an appointment, we will thoroughly examine your teeth and gums and look for any signs of decay. Often, if we can detect decay early, we can treat it with a dental filling. However, if an infection makes its way deeper into the tooth, then we may recommend a root canal treatment to help alleviate pain and save the tooth.

What Happens During The Treatment?

A root canal treatment is an endodontic procedure, which means it focuses on the dental pulp and the area around a tooth’s roots. During the treatment, we will clean the tooth and remove any infected nerves or tissues inside its inner chamber. Afterward, we disinfect and clean the tooth and then use a biocompatible material to fill it before placing a dental crown on it for protection from further damage or decay.

Why You May Need Root Canal Therapy, And Its Benefits

Tooth decay symptoms include toothache, chipped or cracked teeth, pain when you bite or chew, swollen or tender gums, and teeth sensitivity to extreme temperatures. If left untreated, these issues could cause an infection.

This treatment is preferable over a tooth extraction because it allows you to keep your natural smile, as well as your regular biting and chewing functions. When you have a tooth removed, you have to consider other dental restorations, such as dental implants, bridges, and dentures to help maintain your oral health.
