Dental Bridges

If you have a gap in your teeth due to a missing tooth, a dental bridge may be a treatment to consider. Gaps not only compromise your smile, they can also affect your overall oral health and possibly your speaking ability.

What Are Dental Bridges?

A dental bridge is a false tooth, also called a pontic, that is held in place in your smile. They come in four types: traditional (adjacent teeth hold it in place), cantilever (bonds to one tooth with a dental crown), Maryland (uses a metal or porcelain framework bonded to the back of the teeth), and implant-supported (held in place by one or more dental implants).

How The Treatment Works

Most procedures begin by recontouring the teeth adjacent to the gap. This will help us place crowns on them. Impressions will then be taken so that a model can be made in a dental lab. While it’s being created, you will wear a temporary bridge. Once your custom-designed bridge is ready, we will bond it into place. Proper dental care can help bridges last for up to 15 years.
